At Balance we believe in the importance of caring for your mind, mood and body. Research has shown that the decisions you make regarding every aspect of your daily life including nutrition, sleep, exercise, relaxation, even hobbies and friendships can impact your physical and psychological health.

Wellness is not the absence of illness or stress. You can still strive for wellness even if you are experiencing mental and physical health challenges in your life.

Self-care is any activity we do deliberately to care of our mental, emotional, and physical health. Although it seems like a simple concept, self-care is often overlooked and ignored due to other caregiving obligations and managing illness (ex: depression, diabetes, heart disease, etc.). Good self-care practices are key to improving your mental health and relationship with others – and remember, wellness is not the absence of illness or stress. Self-care practices can include engaging in activities that encourage emotional and physical health and interacting with health care providers to prevent and improve illness.
